May our minds be illuminated and our hearts be softened,
so we can be mindful that we are not separate.
We ask for our fears to be removed and replaced with faith,
That our hope be restored and our communities healed.
We appeal to everyone to join us in practicing and demonstrating virtues to help our fellow men and women heal through the practice of humanity and love.
We start by recognizing and commending the heroes who were there initially at the crime scene. Their service will not be forgotten. We thank the police for their supreme sacrifice and courage to end the killing and rescue the survivors.
We commend the health care professionals for their selfless service in striving to save lives in the face of such immense adversity.
We appreciate those who donated blood, food, money and services for their acts of charity and helpfulness. These kind measures give us hope in spite of the tragic circumstances.
In going forward, we ask our news media to practice tact and respect in reporting. We must value human life and behave with compassion towards victims and their loved ones.
We also ask our leaders to practice understanding, unity and justice in working towards preventing this from happening again.
We ask all who can, to help in their own special way. Whether it be a donation, a prayer or a commitment to foster humanity and help end prejudice. May we strive to feel a bond with all people.
